Gary is a Chartered Town Planning and Environmental Consultant with 21 years’ experience acquired within both public and private sector planning positions. In addition to Town Planning and EIA expertise, Gary obtained an MSc Degree in Ecological Assessment in response to the increasing importance of Habitats Directive Assessment (Appropriate Assessment) within landuse planning. This unique blend of experience provides Gary with an unrivalled ability to provide a seamless integrated spatial planning, environmental and ecological assessment and solutions responsive to each location. Gary has been lead planning consultant and project manager on numerous private development projects since 2001 comprising multi-disciplined design teams including residential and commercial development projects located within sensitive environments. Having previously worked as a planning officer with Local Authority, he has a sound knowledge of statutory planning and development procedures and practises providing him with a theoretical and practical insight into the development and implementation of strategic and local planning policy.
Gary’s client and project base includes the provision of strategic and site specific planning and environmental services to; Government departments and agencies, semi-state bodies, local authorities, private development interests, financial, legal, architectural and engineering professionals, and community interests. Gary’s experience also includes; the preparation of statutory Development Plans; and, city masterplaning, town renewal strategies and neighbourhood/community planning. He was also one of the authors of the highly acclaimed Rural Design Guide for County Cork which has influenced numerous rural design policy and guidelines throughout the Country over the last 2 decades.
